Friday Big East Recap


  • Rutgers 14, Connecticut 5 (Piscataway, N.J.)-Rutgers all American Todd Frazier hit his second grand slam in as many days and seniors Mike Bionde and Tim Querns drove in 3 runs each. Scarlet Knight starting pitcher Steve Healing went 7 innings giving up 5 runs only 3 earned on 11 hits. Meanwhile Huskies Center fielder HaroldBrantly went 3-4 with an RBI and 1 run scored.   • Cincinnati 4,Notre Dame 3 (Cincinnati, Ohio)-Bearcats starting pitcher Dan Osterbrock went the complete game in chilly Cincinnati giving up only 5 hits and 3 earned runs and striking out 5. Notre Dame pitcher David Phelps did go all the way also 4 runs (1 earned) and striking out 7. The two teams battled to a 3-3 tie but in the bottom of the 6th Earley doubled down t he line then scored on a Matt Weglaz error. Thursday Score Cincy over ND 4-3. Cincinnati Recap
  • Pittsburgh 6, Louisville 4 (Louisville, KY)-After Louisville tied the game at 3 in the 6th, Pitt picked up two in the 8th and held on to a 6-4 win over the Cardinals on Friday, snapping a seven-game win streak. Louisville Recap
