ACC Recap for 3/31



Duke 8 Florida State 5

Tallahassee native Tony Bajoczky went 6.2 innings while giving up four runs on six hits to give the Duke Blue Devils their seocnd ACC win and Florida State's first ACC loss. Duke was able to jump all over Michael Hyde in the second inning by knocking him out of the game on six hits and six runs in the inning. This was Hyde's first loss of the season which drops him to 8-1 while Tony Bajoczky goes to 5-2. Duke and FSU finish off the series at noon.

UNC 11 Wake Forest 6

The North Carolina Tar Heels used an eight run seventh inning to erase a 5-1 deficit and leading the Tar Heels to the 11-6 victory. The Tar Heels received a average outing from Alex White in which he gave up four runs in his six innings. Dustin Ackley continued his strong freshman season by picking up another two hits in the game. The Tar Heels and Demon Deacons finish off the series tomorrow at 1:30 pm.

UVA 11 Virginia Tech 4

The Virginia Cavaliers got 17 hits to pick up a 11-4 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. Brandon Marsh led the offense with a four hits while Brandon Guyer and Tyler Cannon also picked up three hits. UVA starter Matt Packer only lasted four innings while giving up four runs (two earned) and was relieved by Andrew Carraway who pitched five scoreless innings to get his fourth victory. The Cavs and Hokies finish the series at 1 pm Sunday.

Clemson 4 Miami 1

The Clemson Tigers bounced back to tie the series at one game a piece on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Miami. The Tigers got six innings of one run baseball from Ryan Hinson to up his record to 2-1 on the season. He was followed by Stephen Clyne who allowed only one walk in two innings of work while Daniel Moskos pitched a perfect ninth to get his sixth save of the season. Brad Chaulk went 3-4 to lead the offense. The teams play the rubber game on Sunday at 12:00pm.

Georgia Tech 16 Maryland 6

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets clinched a series victory with a 16-6 victory over the Maryland Terrapins. Tony Plagman went 4-5 with four RBIs and 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack of the Yellow Jackets. Patrick Long also had a solid day by going 3-4 with 4 RBI's at the plate. The teams finish the series off on Sunday at 1 pm.
